Terms

The terms for using this website and the free check: what the check is, what a score does and does not mean, and what fair use is.

These terms

These terms are for using this website and the free check. They are set by Rosebud Cloud Solutions Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, number 14500087. OuterMark is our product.

What the free check is

The free check looks at a domain from outside and gives it a score out of 100, the score's word and the number of findings.

It is passive. It reads the domain's DNS records, fetches its website's front page as any visitor would, completes TLS handshakes with its web and mail servers, and reads public indexes. It does not try passwords, probe ports or attempt a way in.

What a score means

A score is an outside view: what our checks could read of a domain from the internet, on the day they ran. It is not a guarantee that the domain is safe, and it is not a certification. A check that cannot finish is recorded as unknown, never as a pass.

Fair use

Do not run the free check by any automated means, such as a script or a bot. It is there for people checking a domain by hand, and it limits how many checks one visitor can run. To check many domains, talk to us.

What is ours

This website, its words and its design, and the reports the free check makes, are ours. You may read them, print them and share them, and use what a check says about your own domain as you wish. Do not copy the website or its reports to offer them as your own.

Our liability

This website and the free check are free, and given as they are. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that comes from using them or from relying on a score. Nothing in these terms limits a liability the law does not let us limit, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. If we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. The terms that apply are the ones here on the day you use the website.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts deal with any dispute about them.
